Mt. Eliza

Mt. Eliza,

We left Melbourne the morning of Friday, January 25th 2013 and headed out on the coast road to our friends George (Allan) & Stella’s home in Mt. Eliza.  We stopped for coffee on the way at Rickett’s Point which is a marine sanctuary.  We passed through many seaside towns, mostly with English names like Brighton etc.  Arriving at George and Stella’s home, which is a charming limestone house with open beams inside, we were welcomed not only by them but a very exuberant Golden Retriever called Chaucer.  They all looked very well and it was wonderful to catch up after so many years.

On the 26th we had a lovely visit of the Mornington Peninsular and attended the Australia Day Parade and fireworks in the evening.  Chaucer was very good and did not freak out at the fireworks being set off.

The next day we took the ferry to Queenscliffe and had a nice stroll around the town and a lovely lunch.  From the dock we saw some magnificent pelicans and a stingray swam right by our feet.  Once again Chaucer was very good.  On our return journey George & Stella took us to the National Park where we saw wild Kangaroos braising in the bush.   We arrived back and were lucky enough to meet Tristan, George & Stella’s son.  Tristan is a very enterprising young man and a pleasure to talk to.  Unfortunately, then on T.V., we saw Andy Murray beaten in the final of the tennis by Djokovic.  They showed the hole in Murray’s foot and we wondered how he even walked let alone played tennis for four sets.

Bidding farewell to George, Stella, Chaucer & Tristan

On the morning of the 28th we had to bid a very emotional farewell.  Even Chaucer wanted us to stay, but unfortunately we had to make our way to see Ned Kelly and you cannot keep him waiting………………………
